not usually large in size, soil characterization at these sites presents significant complexity due to factors such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Location in populated areas with numerous nearby receivers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mechanical installations buried under thick reinforced concrete slabs, in small areas, generally without available plans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Successive remodels not recorded in historical documentation, which makes it necessary to take extreme safety measures in the drilling works.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure <strong>EHS Techniques<\/strong> team evaluates all these factors in order to carry out the characterization work in accordance with current regulations<strong>(RD 9\/2005<\/strong> and <strong>RD 665\/2023<\/strong>) and applying all relevant safety measures.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Service Stations there are critical areas due to their greater susceptibility as primary sources of contamination:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Buried tank area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zone of displaced loads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dispensers (dispensers).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laundry areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The percentages of problems associated with each of these areas are shown below:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Own elaboration based wp-block-paragraph\">Studies are particularly focused on these areas during the exploratory phases. After sampling of soils, soil vapors and groundwater (including immiscible phase), the compounds characteristic of these facilities (TPH, BTEX, PAH, ETBE and MTBE) are analyzed in accredited laboratories. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results are compared with the <strong>Generic Reference Levels (GRL)<\/strong> and, where appropriate, a <strong>Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA)<\/strong> is prepared.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on this assessment, the need for remedial action is determined. <strong>EHS Techniques<\/strong> designs conceptual and detailed <strong>Remediation Plans<\/strong>, specifying the most appropriate decontamination technologies according to the type and degree of contamination, as well as the logistical and technical complexities of the Service Stations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"531\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ehstechniques.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Interior-modulo-de-remediacion-de-suelo-531x400.jpg\" alt=\"Studies are particularly focused on these areas during the exploratory phases.
