If your renewable energy project is a beneficiary of grants from the POPE-FEDER, it is highly likely that IDAE has already come knocking on your door. The new requirement is clear: to secure the subsidy, you must submit a climate change resilience analysis, or Climate Proofing.

What is IDAE actually requiring of you?
The objective is to demonstrate that your project is compatible with climate neutrality by 2050. To achieve this, the report must be built upon two pillars that we work on every day.:
MITIGATION: The impact on the climate
This is where the Carbon Footprint Calculation comes into play. IDAE needs to verify that the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the project are consistent with European objectives.
• We analyze whether your project exceeds the threshold of 20,000 tCO2e/year.
• For renewable energy projects, this point serves as an opportunity to showcase the reduction in emissions compared to fossil fuel sources.
ADAPTATION: The resilience of the infrastructure
Is your solar plant vulnerable to the extreme flooding or heatwaves we will see in 2040? Through tools such as HEDIVA (for projects under €10M) or comprehensive evaluations, we identify climate risks and propose engineering measures to mitigate them.
A simplified process for projects up to 10 million euros
If your investment, like that of many of our clients in the solar sector, is around 9 or 10 million euros, the process is more streamlined but requires technical rigor. It is not just about filling out a template, but about technically justifying why your design is safe and sustainable.
