The product LCA is an internationally standardized methodology (ISO 14040), which allows calculating the environmental impact of a product through several indicators (Carbon Footprint, terrestrial and aquatic ecotoxicity, acidification and aquatic eutrophication etc …). EHS Techniques carried out LCA studies for products as diverse as packaging, industrial rubbers, chemicals, photovoltaic panels, wind towers … always with the aim of improving the design of those products, energy efficiency, logistics, end-of-life or any other stage of its value chain. EHS Techniques S.L. owns the SimaPro® Life Cycle Analysis software that is a professional tool for calculating the environmental, social and economic impacts associated with a product or service throughout its entire life cycle.
Scope and objectives
The main objective of these studies is to:
- Quantify the environmental footprint associated with each stage of a product’s life cycle.
- Identify critical points where improvements can generate the greatest environmental and cost benefits.
- Support eco-design and circular economy strategies through scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling.
- Provide robust, verifiable data for corporate sustainability reporting, Ecolabel applications, or carbon footprint declarations.
Methodological framework
Each project is developed in accordance with:
- ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards for LCA.
- The ILCD Handbook and the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) approach of the European Commission.
- The SimaPro® database, including Ecoinvent datasets for high-quality, transparent modeling.
Outcomes and added value
The LCAs conducted by EHS Techniques have allowed client companies to:
- Improve product environmental performance and identify hotspots.
- Optimize resource use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Demonstrate environmental compliance and strengthen their sustainability positioning.
- Integrate life-cycle thinking into R&D, production, and procurement processes.
Closing statement
Through its expertise and analytical rigor, EHS Techniques helps industrial clients quantify, understand, and minimize the environmental footprint of their products, supporting informed decision-making aligned with sustainability goals and market expectations.
