Mythological record of the gei inventory and reduction plan of a renewable energy operator

Identification of the documentation to prepare for the application for registration / data update in the Carbon Footprint Registry, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects of an organization whose purpose is to operate Renewable Energy plants.

Project scope

The project encompassed:

  • Identification and collection of all relevant emissions sources across the operator’s wind and solar facilities.
  • Compilation of activity data and emission factors for calculation of the carbon footprint.
  • Preparation of a GHG inventory report suitable for submission to MITERD.
  • Design of a GHG reduction plan targeting both direct and indirect emission sources.
  • Assistance in submission, verification, and registration processes to ensure audit compliance.

Methodology

EHS Techniques applied a comprehensive and standardized approach in line with ISO 14064:2019 and MITERD requirements:

  1. Emission identification and quantification
    • Determination of operational boundaries and categorization of emission sources (Scopes 1, 2, and significant Scope 3).
    • Use of recognized emission factors and measurement data where available.
  2. Data consolidation and verification
    • Integration of facility-level data into a consistent GHG inventory.
    • Validation and internal checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Reduction plan development
    • Identification of practical actions to reduce emissions, including operational improvements, renewable energy optimization, and offsetting strategies.
    • Alignment of reduction measures with corporate sustainability targets.
  4. Registry submission and compliance
    • Preparation of all required documentation for MITERD registration.
    • Support during review and verification by regulatory authorities.

Outcomes and added value

The project enabled the client to:

  • Maintain a verified GHG inventory across its renewable energy portfolio.
  • Demonstrate compliance with national carbon footprint and reduction regulations.
  • Implement a structured emission reduction plan, supporting sustainability reporting and ESG objectives.
  • Achieve transparency and credibility with stakeholders and regulators.

Closing statement

By providing technical expertise in GHG accounting and registry processes, EHS Techniques ensures that renewable energy operators can track, manage, and reduce emissions, contributing to the decarbonization of the energy sector and regulatory compliance.
